It's Friday already! My, how the week has flown!
My main goal this week has been trying to catch up on my sleep. I slept so little last weekend; I think that's why I was under the weather. Plus, it would help if I could sleep without having bad dreams that involve this guy. (Weird, right?)
Besides trying to catch up on sleep (and homework), I've also had a fantastic time spending my my Christmas gift cards. I'm excited to show you some new things in the coming weeks! (Which may or may not include some skinny jeans. Say whaaaat?)
So, onto FBFF questions this week. They are all about blogger authenticity, and the way bloggers are perceived. This should be good, so I'm going to dive right in.
1. Most readers and fellow fashion bloggers value authenticity in the blogs they read. How would you describe blog/blogger authenticity?
I definitely value blogger authenticity in the blogs that I read. I would describe blog/blogger authenticity as a sort of "realness" about a blog/blogger. Realness meaning that they aren't made of money (meaning, they don't get all their clothing from Saks, but more from Target), they don't look perfect all the time, they tell me a little bit about themselves and their life in their blog/blogging, and even though I don't know them in real life, I feel like I know who they truly are through their blogging.
2. When it comes to your blog how to you infuse it with that true/authentic feeling?
I try to always be myself. I'm a very positive person, although I have my down days, so I try to keep my blog positive, just like I am. I also love to laugh with people and I think I have a good sense of humor, although I haven't found the best way to portray that yet. I also try to post, with few exceptions, my own photographs. I think it's nice when the pictures in my blog come from me, not somewhere else. I also do my best to leave thoughtful comments on other people's blogs, so people can get to know me better.
3. Have you stopped following a blog in the last three months? What made you lose interest?
Yes, there were a few blogs that I took off my blog roll (the blogs that I read almost daily) recently. I think I lost interest because I found that the outfits that they wear weren't "wearable" for me (or, in my opinion, the average woman) because who wears mini-skirts all the time? What they wore just didn't seem functional and realistic. And while I realize that a portion of fashion is the "art/abstract" side, I'm personally inspired by people who wear everyday clothes, and don't look like they came straight off a runway.
Plus, at one point, some of those blogs started to make me resent my body for what it is (thick legs) and that's just not somewhere I want to be.
4. We can't communicate effectively on our blogs, something we don't live in real life... what are some ways you try to live an authentic life?
Honestly, I try to live an authentic life by just being myself and not apologizing for it, in life or on this blog. I consider myself pretty boring in real life: I like to hang out with my friends at home, I like to eat, I like to spend time with my husband. Although I love to go out (concerts, travel, food) I don't ever really "go out", as I'm not much of a party animal and I'm a horrid person to take to amusement parks because I hate roller coasters. But, beyond all that, I think I'm a pretty cool person and I know I'm a loyal-to-the-end friend.
5. Give a shout-out... Which bloggers do you think are truly genuine and why?
Ah, there are so many that I admire, and I think their authenticity is what helped them become successful bloggers:
Kendi, at Kendi Everyday. I think she's authetic because she always puts together such wearable for the average woman outfits, plus she's found an amazing way to portray her sense of humor! (I could learn from her)
Elaine, at Clothed Much. I belive she's authentic because she doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to her beliefs. I really admire that! Plus, again, awesome wearable outfits!
Kiera, at a Pretty Penny. I believe she's authentic because she's very frank about how much she spends for her outfits, and she's a fellow bargain shopper like myself. I love a good deal, and I like to relate to bloggers.
Anyway, those are the questions for this week! I'm excited to read everyone else's answers!
What are you doing this weekend? I'm getting ready to go to a concert, do some ice skating (God help us!) and eat some spaghetti! I'll be back Monday. Have a fantastic weekend!

Kendi is showing up a lot in the answers to #5 but you are the first person I've seen mention Elaine. I'd have to agree with you. Her faith is real and deep and it shows in her posts - have to give the girl extra credit for that. - Katy
I think you're a very authentic blogger. Btw, don't you still have that permanent blister from the last (and first) time you went ice skating? lol
Totally agree with the comments about everyday / real clothes! x
I thought what you had to say about no longer following a blog that made you resent yourself was interesting.
I find that anything toxic like to me in life has no place in my world. I want to feel inspired not depressed! Sometimes I feel like I should point out that although I choose my most flattering photos, I have a rather large overbite with crooked teeth. Lol! But then again, if it's gone unnoticed so far, why bother? Those "flaws" don't bother me any more, they're part of how I look.
I'm posting a more in-depth piece this week, probably Wednesday, about body image and favorite body parts. This wasn't written from a professional point of view, rather from my own personal evolution with my body image. Check it out, if you feel so inspired:)

Still me here. I meant to subscribe to the thread and had to leave another comment to do so. Sorry!
